The State of Wisconsin is home to many scenic natural areas, and it’s Horicon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge is one of the best. This 32,000-acre preserve of wetlands and grasses provides a refuge for numerous wildlife; however, it is most famously known as an annual collection point for millions of migrating birds.
This vast wetland area shines in all seasons, but fall is my favorite time to visit. Today’s recent image is from a family walk on one of the many designated trails. Though the wetland grasses seem to flow unbroken forever, the marsh contains many small stands of hardwood trees. Fall colors emanating from these trees and grasslands are hard to beat.
